General Information
Welcome to the 2011 season! First, let us introduce
ourselves as we are your new parent participation representatives. There are
two of us this year. Your representatives are Sharon Hamilton and Jill Clark.
Both of us have three children involved in the Comets. Sharon has two boys in
football and one girl in cheerleading. Jill has three boys all involved in
football. We are very excited for the season and in working with all of you
during the season.
Some things we will be doing a bit differently this year is
that we will be doing sign up for parent participation by having all the
parents hand in the top five spots that they would like to sign up for. Sharon
and Jill will then return your assignments back to you. This will help with the
long lines and confusion during equipment handout night. Families are
encouraged to hand in their assignment forms on one of the parent meeting’s as
these will be given first priority, then emailed forms, etc. If you cannot hand
in your paperwork during one of the two parent meetings, please feel free to
email it to parentpart@rhjrcomets.org. At the parent meeting, Sharon and Jill
will be able to answer any of your questions regarding the various assignments
available for parent participation so if you are new to the Comets, you can get
your questions asked and answered on what is actually asked of you in the
assignments.
There is also a new parent participation agreement to be
completed by each family. This will allow for you to understand what is required
of a family to ensure that your family leaves the season in good standing and
there are no misunderstandings. In addition, each month and at the end of the
season, we will be sending you a status of assignments completed and
assignments upcoming. This way you know exactly what you have left to do. Also,
we request 24 hour notice if you cannot make an assignment and we need for you
to find a replacement for your assignment. The replacement person must be 18
years of age. You can find a copy of the parent participation agreement on the
download forms section of the web site.
Below is a description of the different assignments
available. There are some assignments that must be filled so that a game can
start. This is an AYFCL rule and if they are not filled, we may need to forfeit
a game due to not having enough support on the field, so some of these
positions are critical. Some thoughts you might want to consider when signing
up for an assignment is signing up for a game or time that your child is not
cheering or playing. The reason being is that unless you have an assignment
that is on the field, then you will miss your child cheering or playing during
the game. This may or may not be an issue but something to think about. There
are a few assignments that are needed to be filled for the field for away games
as well. Should we make the playoffs, we will need to ask for extra sign ups at
that time.
Positions for game day:
Monitor: This is one of the required positions at
every game by the AYFCL. This is required for home and away games for A, B, C.
